GIANT SWING

Location: In front of Wet Suthat Thepwarsram Rajawsramahawihan

This is the giant poles in red with a beautifully carved rack standing 21 meters high on a 10.50-meter diameter huge stone base. The giant swing is used in Shramin ritual rite in welcoming one of the supreme Hindo God sewers.

THANON PHRA AR-THIT

Location: Thanon Phra Ar-thit by the Chao Phraya River

Originally was a community as long as the city establishment, this area is the center of administration, art and culture with old palaces, courtier’s residence and homes of commoners. Interesting are:Porn Phra Sumeru built in the reign of King Rama I along the City’s outer wall to’the Chao Phraya altogether 14 forts with only 2 Phra Sumeru and Mahakal remain.

Baan Chao Phraya originally was the palace of Prince Sathit Damrongsawat, son of King Pinklao and later made into Office of the Police Department before Prince Karob requested a grant for house and land if was then called “Wang Phra Ong Chao Kamrob”
Baan Phra Ar-thit or “Goethe”—a structure of Thai — German style originally was a palace or a courtier in the reign of King Rama V-Vll and made into a meeting place of art-lovers before become an office of a private company. A lot of Lamphoo trees were plenty here it was so called Bang Lamphoo.

PHRANAKORN NATIONAL MUSEUM

Location: Thanon Na Phradhatu, Thammasat University side.

Originally was Rattanakosin’s King Rama IV’s private museum before the establishment of “Museum for the People” in the Grand Palace and relocated to the 3 thrones at Bovornsathanmonkala Palace. In the reign of King Rama VII all the palace buildings were made into “Museum for the City” consisting of 3 sections—Thailand History; Thai Arts and Archeology; Fine arts and Ethnology. Some thrones are recognized as a prototype of the outstanding and elegant Thai architecture in Early Rattanakosin.

THANON UTAYARN

Location: Buddha Mondhon 4 and 3, Tawee Wattana District.

Thanon Uttayarn or Ak-sa Road as called by the locals was built underthe development project of Buddha Mondhon’s surrounding area to link Buddha Mondhon 4 and 3 together. 90 meters wide and 3,861 long with 979 swan-design lamp posts, Thanon Uttayan was completed and officially open in 1999, recognized as one of Bangkok’s most beautiful roads.

WAT SUTHAT THEPWARARAM RAJAWARAMAHAWIHAN

Location: Thanon Bamrungmuang opposite the Office of BangkokAdministration Authority, Phranakorn District

Established under the royal command of Rattanakosin King Rams I withoriginal name Wat Mahasuthavas, the temple later renamed by King Rama Ill Wat Suthat Thepwararam is one of the six significant monasteries of Thailand and recognized as best- planned structure. Enshrined in the vihara is the beautiful Buddha image in the Attitude of subduing Mara Phra Sri Sakaya Muni.
